The world's first ultra-thin VR headset 3Glasses X1 released, with BOE Fast-LCD screen

Chinese VR manufacturer 3Glasses held a new product and industrial strategy conference called 'Seeing'. 3Glasses CEO Ms. Wang Jie and Digital Domain CEO and Executive Director Mr. Xie An jointly released the world's first consumer-grade ultra-thin VR glasses '3Glasses X1

3Glasses X1 single glasses are priced at 1799 yuan; the mini host 3Box A2 is priced at 1599 yuan, and the three-degree-of-freedom handle is priced at 158 u200bu200byuan; the package is priced at 2998 yuan (including X1 glasses, A2 host, 3Dof handle), scheduled to be officially shipped at the end of May.

The most obvious difference between 3Glasses X1 and other VR headsets on the market is that it is very small, thin and light, due to its ultra-short focus optical solution. In terms of optical parameters, X1 uses two BOE 2.1-inch Fast-LCD screens with a refresh rate of 90Hz, a response time of 6ms, a resolution of 2400×1200 (monocular 1200x1200), a ppi pixel density of 806, and a monocular field of view of 88.6 degrees ( 105 degrees for both eyes), and with its own diopter adjustment function, the adjustment range can reach 600 degrees. Obviously, this is a solution that cannot allow users to wear glasses because of the ultra-thin body.

As an extremely thin and light VR device, 3Glasses X1 does not integrate a computing unit in the head-mounted display. Therefore, the default computing performance of the modified product is actually completed by 3Box A2, a host with a neck-mounted design. The 3Box A2 weighs about 400g, and it has a built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 chip. It should be a mid-range chip that supports 3Dof in the series. The performance is about the same as that of the Snapdragon 600 series chip. Of course, there is no baseband; storage is 4GB of memory. +32GB storage, in addition can support 128GB memory card expansion, built-in 5400mAh battery, battery life about 3-4 hours, can be connected to the X1 headset through USB Type C.

In terms of content, 3Glasses CEO Ms. Wang Jie said that 3Glasses' VR products are compatible with many platforms such as Digital Domain and iQiyi VR. Currently, it can provide consumers with more than 300 games and more than 2,000 games. Video resources.

In addition to hardware products, 3Glasses also announced that it has signed a strategic agreement on IP VR with the comics company Dark Horse Comics; The VR content publisher 'Digital Realm Space'Experience first, pay later' B2B2C experience VR industry sales model.

At the same time, the 3Glasses ODM business was also announced at the press conference. It will jointly open ultra-thin VR optical modules with BOE to promote innovation in the VR industry.

It is understood that in the field of VR headsets, BOE currently occupies 80% of the global market share. Among the Fast-LCD product lines for the VR field, BOE has shipped a large number of 3.5-inch monocular 1.5K resolution Products with high resolution and 5.5-inch monocular QHD resolution, higher resolution products have been sent to customers for testing, and future products are moving towards higher resolution.
